Bedlington Terrier

The Bedlington Terrier is a breed of dog that originated in the United Kingdom in the 18th century. The breed was named after the mining town of Bedlington in Northumberland, where the breed was first developed. The Bedlington Terrier was bred to be a versatile dog, used for tasks such as hunting, ratting, and guarding. They are small-to-medium-sized dogs, weighing between 17 and 23 pounds. They have a distinctive, lamb-like appearance, with a curly coat that can be blue, liver, or sandy in color. Bedlington Terriers are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and high energy levels. They make great family pets and are good with children.  Famous owners of Bedlington Terriers include U.S. president Joe Biden, who has two Bedlington Terriers named Champ and Major. Another well-known owner is British singer-songwriter Morrissey, who is known for his love of the breed and has had several Bedlington Terriers throughout his life. The breed has also been recognized by various kennel clubs, including the American Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club. They are popular in dog shows and have also been used in various dog sports, including obedience, agility, and racing.
