Border Collies came from the border region in England and Scotland, where they were used to herd sheep. They are highly intelligent and can learn many commands. Border Collies range from 18 to 22 inches high and weigh 27 to 45 pounds. They are energetic and require regular exercise and activities to stimulate their minds. Some famous Border Collie owners include Queen Victoria and Robert Burns, the Scottish poet. A notable Border Collie named Chaser was able to learn the names of more than 1,000 objects.
