The Brussels griffon rough coat is descended from two dogs that were used for hunting and killing rats, the affenpinscher and the Belgian street dog. Later this dog was bred with the pug to make the Brussel griffon smooth coat. These dogs bond closely with their owners and make good pets for people living in small spaces. Brussels Griffons stand from 9 to 11 inches high and weigh 8 to 10 pounds. One Griffon named Jill became famous in the Jack Nicholson movie “As Good As It Gets .”Griffons are known for their grumpy look, and they were the inspiration for the Ewoks in the Star Wars Series.
